Born in 1922 from workwear roots as a dungarees company named Williamson-Dickies MFG. Co. Since then it has grown to become the world’s largest workwear manufacturer. Skaters in the 80’s and 90’s knowing that they needed tough fabrics and clothing chose Dickies which could offer them skateboarding pants that would be resistant to scratches and tears from cement, beams and asphalt.
In the 90’s Julien Stranger, the Anti-Hero group and the SF Based skaters started wearing Dickies making the brand cool since they skated with it thus beginning the influence of Dickies in the streetwear community. And so Dickies grew into a prominent name in streetwear and skate culture.
